When producing an interview-driven video, we need to find the story before we roll cameras, and the best place to look is in the pre-interview. 

It’s where the story takes shape and chooses a path, all through the lens of the people who’ve lived it.

And being on camera isn’t easy, so the pre-interview is also where we build relationships. Learning what people have to say and how they want to say it is the best way to create a comfort level - and a conversation.

We’re not chasing perfect answers. We’re stress-testing the story and uncovering the real ones.

The power of the pre-interview is equal parts brainstorming and rehearsal, so that everyone knows how to tell the story before you ever hit record.
