our last stop on our month abroad was a return to the place that first stole our hearts on our honeymoon six years ago: milos, greece. specifically, and the very same room we stayed in as newlyweds. spending the week there felt like stepping back into a memory, only now with six more years of life between us.

in that time we’ve built and gone through so much. Alex going through such a competitive residency and fellowship took over our lives for the last decade and was the most difficult thing we’ve had to face together, so being in the same celebratory space at end of the journey felt like a poignant reminder of where we’ve been and how far we’ve come. to anyone who is going through the medical journey or is with a spouse who is: i see you and i’ll be the first to say it’s so fu***ng hard. but there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and it is one of the most rewarding and happy feelings to get through, stronger, together.
