With ever-larger amounts of data becoming central to the development of new medicines, it is critical to have the right systems in place to manage all of that data from the start. Spreadsheets, bespoke databases, and electronic laboratory notebooks all have shortcomings that can prevent teams from effectively and efficiently using their data. The best bioregistries are designed to properly model, record, and query biological data at scale, while also providing APIs to support integration and automation in the pursuit of FAIR data.
The Benefits of Bioregistry Software It has never been more important to organize, standardize, and centralize data collection in the pursuit of new medicines.

Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) has greatly impacted fields like genomics, transcriptomics, and immunology. Specifically, in nanobody discovery, NGS offers an efficient way to identify and extract variable domain heavy-chain (VHH) regions from camelid B-cells, eliminating the need for traditional methods. This article explores how NGS is used to identify antibodies of interest and extract the VHH region for nanobody expression, outlining the steps involved from immunization and B-cell isolation to library preparation, sequencing, and bioinformatics analysis.
Next-Generation Sequencing to Identify and Extract Nanobodies from Camelid B-cells NGS offers an approach for identifying and extracting variable domain heavy-chain (VHH) regions from camelid B-cells.

Nanobodies, also known as VHHs or single-domain antibodies, are small, stable antibody fragments derived from heavy-chain-only antibodies found in camelids. They have been extensively studied for various applications, including diagnostics, imaging, and therapeutics. Belgian researchers discovered these unique antibodies in the early 1990s. Nanobodies possess attractive properties such as small size, high stability, specificity, low immunogenicity, and ease of engineering. They can access hard-to-reach targets, pe*****te dense tissues, and cross biological barriers. Nanobodies offer great potential as innovative therapeutic agents with a wide range of applications.
