Shade Installations

Our client decided to bring her mid-century modern home in Worcester into the twenty-first century. A new kitchen and bath was in order. Then lighter and brighter paint colors welcomed the afternoon light from the west facing windows. Now it was time to let go of the fancy swags and jabots. We brought along fabric, shade and blind samples from various manufacturers to choose from. Fortunately, she had in her mind exactly how these windows would be treated. The large living room picture window had to have a double treatment. An elegant sheer fabric to soften the glare on sunny days without blocking the light. The color palette of the main draperies helped create a more up-to-date room that brought everything together when they were closed at night for privacy. The dining area also received a new look with a soft Roman shade. Our manufacturer uses materials that resemble fine reeds and grasses to fool the eye. A very classic and classy choice at half the cost of natural fibers. The padded cornice above the window dresses up the area using the same fabric as the living room draperies. The whole affect makes the open space look like two separate rooms that compliment each other very well. These window treatments have a bright future in this twentieth century home!

"Often called "testers," which derived from the Latin word testa (or head), canopy beds were used by Medieval noblesse for warmth and privacy as they often slept in difficult-to-heat great halls alongside their attendants."
Who knew? Our client requested this addition for a pair of twin beds. Sweet dreams!

Almost two years after a third floor fire and the water damage from the fire hoses, this family could finally come home. Our client purchased her own fabric which we made into top down/bottom up Roman shades for the kitchen. The soft red, light teal and off white colors in the fabric compliment the sage green custom cabinets. The higher side windows are dressed with simple invert pleated valances. This new reincarnation is truly the heart of the home.

The renovated living room and entry way in this Milton couple's home needed a modern, clean look on the windows. Our clients chose a woven wood Roman shade in the living room and a Phiffer Sunscreen shade for the front door and side windows. The soft birch color of the Roman shades blended perfectly with the new wall color. The Phiffer shades allowed them to look through the shade and see out during the day while maintaining their privacy from those outside. The cassette headrails give the shades a clean contemporary look and help brighten up the foyer.
