State Rep. Kathy LaNatra

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of hosting a briefing on the impact on Massachusetts students and borrowers from federal changes to student loans and repayment plans, alongside my colleague Representative Dave Rogers, House Chair of the Committee on Higher Education.
We heard from Michael Dannenberg from the Dept. Of Higher Education and Betsy Mayotte of The Institute of Student Loan Advisors (TISLA), who offers free student loan advice for individuals at all stages of paying for school. Both Michael and Betsy have such extensive knowledge and I was so thankful for their willingness to share updates and their expertise in this area.
This was an insightful look into the impact of the elimination of the SAVE plan, changes to undergrad, graduate, and parent loan caps. These changes will have dire consequences on students, both past and present.
In today’s economy, higher education is more important than ever, and is something that Massachusetts takes pride in ensuring residents access to. These changes will limit who can attend school, and will exacerbate already existent gaps that exist between those who can and cannot attend school.

With today and this weekend's heat, I want to make sure my constituents know where to go if they need a place to stay cool. Here are some of the options for residents to go to if they need a place to go. As always, please feel free to let my office know if we missed any location where people can do.
