Each year, the Trust for Public Land issues an updated ParkScore rating for 100 large cities throughout the US. This year, Boston has been ranked as the 12-highest park score in the country and matching our ranking from last year.
A major contributor to this high score is Boston’s universal access to parkland—100% of Boston residents live within a 10-minute walk of a park or greenspace. We are grateful that expansive park systems like the Emerald Necklace contribute to this incredible figure.
There is an opportunity for Boston’s ranking to improve! A major way that Boston could increase its ParkScore is through increased public and private investment into parkland. We encourage you to support our parks by contacting your elected officials about increased park funding or by contributing to the Emerald Necklace Conservancy through a donation or volunteer service. Every action makes a meaningful difference.
