We are incredibly excited to announce that Breaktime is featured in Target Circle!

For the next three months, shoppers earn votes every time they make a purchase online or in-store, that they can then use to vote for Breaktime. A few weeks ago, the 2026 Boston Homelessness Census reported 126 unaccompanied youth experiencing homelessness. But since opening our Hub in September, Breaktime has already served more than 400 unique young adults.

This gap shows a critical reality: young adult homelessness is often hidden, undercounted, and misunderstood. If we don’t accurately identify the problem, we can't properly solve it.

Today, The Boston Globe published a Letter to the Editor from Breaktime's Co-Founder and CEO, Connor Schoen, calling for a deeper, more accurate understanding of how young adult homelessness is identified and addressed so we can break the cycle of chronic homelessness before it begins.

"Think about what we ask of young adults experiencing homelessness: find a job, secure housing, build a life. Then think about how many of those steps require an ID."

For young people who left foster care without their records, fled unsafe homes, or are surviving in cars and on couches, the current ID process can be a barrier to stability.

We partnered with the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless on a new op-ed to advocate for the MA ID Bill (S.2399 / H.3750). This legislation would waive the ID fee for individuals experiencing homelessness, ensuring that a lack of funds or paperwork doesn't stand in the way of housing stability.
