Butternut Squash Soup + Spicy Garlic Pepitas - good witch kitchen | holistic nutritionist 10/07/2020

Fun fact: Potatoes and bananas aren’t the only ways you can get potassium. Winter squash is a great source as well. Root vegetables are both grounding and contractive, so if you’re feeling a bit scattered and overwhelmed due to the seasonal transition (and, well, the rollercoaster that is 2020), this soup may feel like a soft and nurturing hug.

Butternut Squash Soup + Spicy Garlic Pepitas - good witch kitchen | holistic nutritionist As much as I am loathe to admit it, fall is nearly here. The final days of summer keep alternating hot and cool, and this morning I find myself with fuzzy socks on my feat, hot tea in my hand,...READ MORE

In my nutrition practice, the approach I use is based on intuition, rather than counting calories and logging every last teaspoon of food into an app that determines your needs with an algorithm. I teach clients how to develop their own intuition around food choices and learning how to listen to their body and what feels good to them.

As a feminist I have begun devoting a lot of my energy to hormone health and menstrual health, which is often ignored due to patriarchal influences in science, medicine, education, and other areas that impact our health. (I taught a workshop about this last week that you can watch here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ewe43c770jg&feature=youtu.be)

My biggest goal is to educate people about the human body and about the natural cycles of life so they can make informed and intentional decisions about their health and become an expert in their own bodies.

I recently launched a new membership program in my business to do just that. To help people who menstruate to break out of standards of living that weren't designed to support them, start working WITH their cycles instead of resisting them daily, and improve period problems in the process.

Because period problems aren't just an inevitable part of life, but did anyone ever tell you that?

Remember Goldilocks and the Three Bears?⠀
⠀
Putting aside her criminal history, there's one thing we can learn from Goldie — how everything needs to be juuuust right.⠀
⠀
Your hormones have a lot of say in how your fertility, sleep, s*x drive, metabolism, mental health, energy, and more play out. If they're imbalanced, you’ll feel it in places that may not seem related at all. ⠀
⠀
It's the Goldilocks principle: You want not too much and not too little, but just the right amount, because even a small shift in one direction can be felt in a big way.⠀
