🗞️✨ Today’s Art in Print artist spotlight features

Valerie Prosper Imparato is a Haitian-born artist, illustrator, and muralist whose bold, colorful work draws from East African and Caribbean influences. Her practice centers underrepresented communities, especially Black women, immigrants, and mothers, through vibrant portraiture and storytelling.

Her featured print, “Shades of Blue,” comes from an embroidery series exploring Blackness and femininity beyond traditional visual identifiers like hair and skin tone. By using vivid blues, oranges, and reds, Valerie invites viewers to rethink assumptions around beauty, identity, and representation.
