Taima Krayem Designs

From my MFA thesis show "Still to be settled" I tried to share my love of Aleppo and its beautiful ancient stonework in this body of work, see taimakrayem.com for my thesis statement and details about each piece, thank you my dear for being the best partner and thank you for all your help and support! Despite not being able to have a public show due to the circumstances, it was great to see it all together.

Carved drawer pulls reading "ya laylee, ya layl" "oh my night, oh night" repeated as they're traditionally sang in the opening of a song.
One of the most enjoyable part for me in traditional music as it's a way for vocalization but also a way to share and set emotions in a music, taking the listener through feelings of melancholy, joy and sadness all in one song.
The opening of the drawers reveals photos of bits and parts of Bayt Ghazaleh, a seventeenth century palace in Aleppo that was heavily damaged by bombing and fighting.
