Uphams Corner Strand

While it's delightful to have Boston Modern Orchestra Project and their production of "X" at the Strand, it's not the first play about Malcolm X performed here. In January, 1993, we featured "When the Chickens Come Home to Roost" by Laurence Holder on our stage. The Off-Broadway production featured a young Denzel Washington as Malcolm.

Malcolm X takes the stage at The Strand - The Bay State Banner On June 17, Malcolm X’s bold and booming speeches will ring out at the Strand Theatre during the New England premiere of Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Anthony Davis’ opera, “X: The Life and Times of Malcolm X.”
