HAPPY HEAVENLY BIRTHDAY to one of my dearest friends, Karen Antonio-Muenzinger. It is amazing how people enter our lives and then sometimes they leave before we want them to, but they have a profound impact on us while they are here. It can feel as if they crossed our path for a reason. I met Karen 1995 and lost her in 2005. She was like a sister to me. At the very end she told me she would be my guardian angel. Thank you, Karen, I keep you with me in my heart, and celebrate you each year on your birthday. I miss you very much.

On January 29, 2005, my brass group, INNOVATA, lost trumpeter and friend Karen Antonio-Muenzinger to cancer. This piece "Karen" was the first piece of many (little did we know at the time) that the acclaimed composer Sanae Kanda would write for us.
