So happy to be part of 's exhibit, Loom in Essence, opening today at ! Along with tapestries, wearable art, and home decor for sale, the exhibit features a special installation of ori-ori (woven/folded) cranes made by studio members in memory of those lost to covid. This installation is based on the Japanese custom of folding paper origami cranes to wish for peace and healing; with the collective creative energy of our art, we wish for a path towards healing from this virus.

Saori weaving philosophy originated in Japan, drawing from Zen principles of self discovery through spontaenous creative expression.

On this momentous day, scenes from the recent Boston Women's March and words of wisdom from two of my favorite suffragettes, Carrie Chapman Catt and Elizabeth Cady Stanton:

"The vote is the emblem of your equality.. prize it! The vote is power, a weapon of offense and defense, a prayer. Use it intelligently, conscientiously, prayerfully."

"The moment we begin to fear the opinions of others and hesitate to tell the truth that is in us.. life no longer flows into our souls."

VOTE, keep fighting, and as Kamala says, keep listening to the ancestors!! β€πŸ‡±πŸ‡·
