In historic homes, craftsmanship matters.

In this Greek Revival primary suite, the quiet palette allows the workmanship to lead. Cathedral ceilings wrapped in beadboard soften the scale, but it is the hand-crafted elements that give the room depth.

A hand-knotted carpet grounds the space with density and texture underfoot. Hand-blocked drapery introduces pattern at a restrained scale, each repeat carrying subtle variation. Handmade and glazed ceramic lamps by a New England artisan add warmth and irregularity that factory pieces cannot replicate. The furniture was selected for its craftsmanship and joinery, not just silhouette.

In the adjoining bath, custom cabinetry and a waterjet stone mosaic continue the emphasis on material integrity.

Layered interiors are strongest when they are built, not assembled.

Save this if you value craftsmanship in your home.
