Runners! I know this might be hard to hear, but you need to be taking at least one rest day a week ๐Ÿ˜ด If you havenโ€™t been, start scheduling it into your training like you do everything else ๐Ÿ“†

Rest days allow your body to get stronger, heal and adapt to the stress youโ€™re putting on it, allow you to mentally recharge, improve quality of your sleep (yes, overtraining negatively impacts sleep!), and helps you avoid burnout.

Many of us who are running spring races are starting to reach high mileage weeks and rest is becoming even more important. Take your rest and recovery just as seriously as you do yoir training!

Photos from Danielle Good's post 01/08/2024

These two photos are a testament to the power of proper coaching, recovery, and nutrition while training for a marathon and by extension any endurance event.

Photo 1 ๐Ÿ“ธ Taken at the finish line of the Providence marathon in May 2022. While I did snag a BQ, the struggle bus ๐ŸšŒ was real ๐Ÿฅต๐Ÿซ  This picture perfectly captures the pain and exhaustion I felt for the final 6.2 miles of the race, thatโ€™s a loooong time to struggle for lol

Fast forward 11 months later to April 2023 at the finish line of the Boston Marathon and you can see the pure joy, strength, and feeling of accomplishment written all over my face. Even after being sidelined with a torn labrum and femoral stress fracture, I was able to make a strong return to run and grab a PB at Boston. ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’ซ

The secret? A dedicated run coach who emphasized the importance of rest and recovery ๐Ÿ˜ด preached fueling and nutrition like there was no tomorrow ๐Ÿฅ™๐Ÿณ๐Ÿš and gave me the gudiance I needed throughout my training. Thank you and ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ

Being able to experience how effective having a run coach is is one of the many reasons I wanted to become one. With years of my own running experience and having learned so much from my own run coach and the courses Iโ€™ve gone through, I canโ€™t wait to help you reach your running potential and cheer you on every step (literally) of the way ๐Ÿ“ฃ๐Ÿ“ฃ
