Walking along Junkanoo Beach in The Bahamas 🇧🇸, I couldn’t help myself. I dropped into my offensive line stance and started teaching the fundamentals—stance, kick slide, and post step.
Great offensive linemen aren’t made by fancy facilities. They’re built through mastering the fundamentals wherever they are.

The plaques tell you who I was.
This newspaper tells you what God was building.
While playing football at Southwest Missouri State University, I was married with three young children. Then our family experienced a devastating loss when my wife’s mother passed away.
Before she died, I made her a promise:
I would help raise her two younger sons as my own.
Suddenly, I was balancing college, football, being a husband, raising three children, helping raise two additional boys, and pledging Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
There were many days I wondered how I would make it.
But God never failed me.
Looking back, I understand He wasn’t just preparing me to play football.
He was preparing me to lead.
He was preparing me to mentor.
He was preparing me to serve.
Today, that calling continues through the Starts Up Front National & Global Recruiting Board, where we’re creating opportunities for offensive and defensive linemen to earn an education and change the trajectory of their lives.
Football was the platform.
God was always writing the story.
This is only one chapter.
