We love starting the week off by sharing a !

"“This is Kevin! His name was originally Bolo when we adopted him, but we decided to change it. My boyfriend and I found out I was pregnant and decided we wanted our son to grow up with a lifelong best friend, so we got Kevin! He is the happiest, silliest puppy ever. He's so incredibly sweet and such a fast learner. He definitely brought a light into my boyfriend's and my lives that we didn't know we were missing! We love watching him grow and learn, and we are eternally grateful for the humane society for everything that they do and for giving us our fur baby!! We got him at 3 months old when he was about 8 lbs. He's almost 7 months now, and he's 40 lbs., so he's definitely growing fast! He loves his toys and walks and is just such a little ball of sunshine. We love you, Kevin!!”

Thanks for adopting!

Keep your pets safe this Fourth of July weekend! This time of year is notoriously busy for animal shelters across the country because so many pets become frightened by fireworks and run from their yards and homes.

Accidents can happen even with the best planning, so make sure that your pet’s identification tag has your most current contact information and is attached to a well-fitted collar. Update your pet’s microchip information if you’ve moved or changed phone numbers since it was implanted. These steps will make it much easier for your pet to find its way home!

Your pets will do best locked safely in the house when fireworks begin. Close windows and pull down the blinds to minimize the amount of chaos they can see and hear outside. Turning on the radio or TV and giving pets a special treat or toy to keep them distracted helps as well. Don’t be tempted to take pets with you to celebrations where crowds can add to their stress.

Pets who have made their way into our shelter will be listed on our website: https://idahohumanesociety.org/found-pet
