Sanctuary City has wrapped. Thank you to everyone who joined us over the past two weekends.

The play takes place in the early 2000s, but the fight continues.

This is why theater matters.

Jovani as B in Sanctuary City by Martyna Majok.

Jovani is beyond excited to be part of this story, one Little Branch has wanted to tell for some time. He is grateful to be working alongside such talented and creative people who have been welcoming, supportive, and continue to push him to be better.
Most importantly, this story has brought him closer to his own immigrant background. Jovani would not be here if not for those who carried the desire and ambition for a better life. The fight for survival. He is inspired to continue embracing that history and to dig deeper into where he comes from.
It is a scary time when people have to hesitate before announcing where they come from, what has shaped who they are. Thank you to the immigrants who paved a path forward for those who came after them.
And of course, Jovani thanks his wife, his partner, his friend for her passion, her creativity, and for leading all of this.

Evencio Bahena as Henry for Sanctuary City by Martyna Majok.

Evencio is so excited to be performing with Little Branch Theatre for the very first time! He has had the privilege of being part of the Boise performing arts community for over ten years, and every production continues to remind him why he loves this craft. Getting to work alongside such a genuinely creative and collaborative team on Sanctuary City has been an absolute gift, and he feels truly honored to be part of a story that speaks so deeply and feels is relative to today’s world.

Evencio would like to give a special thank you to his husband, Ty — his constant support and encouragement mean more than words can say. Thank you for always being in his corner.
