David Jeremiah’s book, Shelter In God, he reminds us that the road of life is filled with potholes (my description). We’re not promised an easy journey. In fact, Jesus did not mince words, He warned us of trouble (tribulation). King David knew that; but he was confident in God’s ability to “preserve” him through it all.

The Lord will preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul.
The lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in
