When a few of your favorite things come together, it's like a Julie Andrews song. We need to rework the lyrics to include drone, mountains and luxury real estate!

Lonnie Dodd and asked me to shoot this ranch style home in the mountains just outside of Boise, and every box was checked, from the scenic drive and the idyllic weather to the perfectly laid out single story home with VIEWS!

While I'm always happy to create regular photos and the virtual tours, drone photos & video are the most satisfying and rewarding parts of my day.

When you are a drone pilot and photographer and get asked to do a shoot....the odds are infinitely more likely I will say yes, the more unique the request.

Realtors - Do You Really Own Your Listing Photos? More than likely no.

You paid for them, but that doesn’t mean you can use them however you want.

There is a common (and costly) misunderstanding.

Lets say a Realtor hires a photographer, pays for the shoot, and then… uses those same photos across multiple platforms, in future listing presentations, maybe even on postcards months later. Seems harmless, right?



In most cases, unless stated otherwise, the photographer retains the copyright to the images. That means you're technically only licensing the photos for a specific use, usually to market that one listing.

If you want to reuse the photos later, transfer them to another agent, or post them outside the agreed-upon channels (like print ads, broker sites, etc), you could be violating copyright.

I know, it sounds wild. But photographers are protected under U.S. copyright law the moment they hit the shutter.

Here’s what you can do:

✅ Ask for a clearly defined usage license in writing

✅ Understand what your payment includes (and doesn’t)

✅ Don’t assume you can reuse photos from an old listing

✅ Avoid using another agent’s listing photos, even if you take over the listing

And yes, I’m a real estate photographer who provides flexible licensing because I want you to win with your marketing. But not all photographers do. And I’ve seen agents hit with takedown notices… or worse.
