St. Luke’s marks major construction milestone on Boise Campus Development project.
Adorned with hundreds of team member signatures, quotes and even some artful sketches, St. Luke’s, with the help of its general contractor, Layton Construction, recently raised the highest steel beam on in its Boise Campus Development project with a ceremonial “topping out.”
The topping out ceremony is a longstanding construction tradition that honors both the progress of the project and the workers who make it possible.
The celebratory event brought together the project’s general contractor, Layton Construction, the many trade partners, architects, community partners and St. Luke’s team members involved to pause and recognize the project’s significant milestone, the progress and the people behind it.
Guests also enjoyed a barbecue lunch to celebrate the momentous occasion.
“This moment represents more than steel and concrete. It reflects the dedication of our teams and St. Luke’s commitment to and investment in improving the health of the people in the communities we serve,” said Dennis Mesaros, vice president for St. Luke’s Boise, McCall and Elmore medical centers.

In 2025, Dr. Martha Pacheco was recognized with a Physician and Advanced Practice Provider Excellence Award as part of St. Luke’s Caring Heart Awards program. This award recognizes physicians, and advanced practice practitioners who demonstrate our values, behaviors and vision in providing exceptional patient-centered care.
Dr. Pacheco is a pediatric oncologist at St. Luke's Children's Cancer Institute. She leads with integrity, mentors new providers and advocates tirelessly for her patients. Her dedication is evident in every interaction, from answering late-night calls with kindness to coordinating life-saving treatment for a child with a rare tumor.
Dr. Pacheco fosters a culture of respect, openness and excellence, making her a trusted partner and an extraordinary caregiver.
"Martha shows up at clinic staff meetings … (and) does not shy away from difficult questions … When those questions are asked, she always meets the person with kindness and the intent to educate. She speaks with us as we are her equals. This has truly created an atmosphere of open dialogue and intrigue, which in turn makes this clinic an incredible place to come to work every day," a team member said.
The Pediatric Trauma team was honored with the Excellence in Teamwork Award as part of St. Luke’s Caring Heart Awards program. This award recognizes teams and workgroups that demonstrate our values and behaviors and work together to advance our mission.
Accepting the award on behalf of the Pediatric Trauma team were Dr. Morgan Richards and April Noller.
Team members' efforts recently led to a rare and prestigious achievement: A full three-year reverification as a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons, placing St. Luke’s among the top 50% of centers nationwide to meet these rigorous standards.
