Most business owners assume their website is working for them the moment it goes live, but simply having a website doesn't mean Google knows it exists — or trusts it enough to show it to anyone. The first issue is usually that the site was built without SEO in mind, meaning there's no keyword research behind the content, title tags and meta descriptions are missing or generic, and the pages aren't structured in a way that tells Google what the business does or who it serves. The second reason is authority — Google ranks websites it trusts, and that trust is built largely through backlinks from other credible sites. A brand new site or one that's never had SEO work done will struggle to compete on the first page no matter how good the content looks. The third and often most overlooked reason is technical: slow load speeds, pages that aren't mobile-friendly, broken links, or content accidentally blocked from being crawled can all hurt visibility in ways that aren't obvious just by looking at the site. The good news is that all three are fixable, and an SEO audit is usually the fastest way to find out exactly what's holding your site back.

A slow website costs you visitors and rankings. Most people won't wait more than a few seconds for a page to load — and when they leave, Google takes note. Page speed is a direct ranking factor, which means a sluggish site can quietly drag down your search visibility over time. The good news is that speed issues are fixable, and the payoff shows up fast. Faster load times mean lower bounce rates, longer sessions, and more conversions — all signals that tell Google your site is worth sending people to.
