Starting May 8. 2020, the USPTO is implementing a pilot program to provide prioritized examination of patent applications for inventions that cover a product or process related to COVID-19 AND that it is such a product or process subject to an applicable FDA approval for COVID-19 use.

But that's not all! Priortized examination fees are waived for applicants who qualify as a small entity or as a micro entity.

The goal of this pilot program is to achieve final disposition of your application within six months.

Worried about your patent deadlines? On March 31, the USPTO Director, Andrei Iancu, signed the Notice of Waiver of Patent-related Timing Deadlines under the CARES Act.

Some trademark deadlines are also affected. In addition, the Copyright Office has also exercised its authority to waive certain deadlines.
