Mentorship is one of the most important parts of building the future of the arts.

At Theatre Lab, supporting the next generation of artists is a core part of who we are. Through programs like LabRATS, students are paired with working professionals who help guide them as they create, refine, and ultimately see their own original plays come to life in front of an audience.

In this video, award-winning playwright Jeff Bower discusses the process of mentoring students through the journey of writing, refining, and ultimately witnessing their short plays performed live as part of the Owl New Play Festival. Experiences like these help students gain confidence in their voices while providing real insight into the collaborative process behind new play development.
