Florida Atlantic University student government officials moved to impeach Boca Raton House Rep. Christian “CJ” Walden during an emergency House meeting on Friday following his arrest earlier this week on a felony charge involving an attempt to meet a minor of the age of 13.

With a vote of 20-0 and no opposition, the bill to impeach Walden from his cabinet position was approved, while the bill to officially remove Walden from the House in its entirety was voted 18-0 to postpone for Friday, June 5. House meeting. Following the approval of the impeachment bill, Representative Ayden Corley was elected to replace Walden as Ways and Means chair.

Officers from the Delray Beach Police Department arrested Walden on Tuesday after a local social media group known as “561 Predator Catchers” posted videos alleging Walden had arranged to meet with what he believed was a 13-year-old boy, according to arrest records.

Florida Atlantic Baseball has shown no indication of creating an in-stadium locker room, while conference opponents are renovating their facilities, a difference that could factor into player recruiting.

In the American Conference, schools like Rice University, the University of South Florida, and Tulane University have either adjacent or in-stadium locker rooms. According to Joe Tremplin, Director of Strategic Communications for the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, the university plans to upgrade its ‘clubhouse,’ which will also include renovated locker rooms.

However, FAU is making minor renovations and has assets that most conference opponents don’t have, including two full-sized baseball fields.
