If you know me, you know I don’t just warm up my hands… I warm up my perspective.
One of my favorite songs to kick off a guitar session is Satellite by .
There’s something about that melody that just pulls you in. The 3/4 time signature (that almost feels like 6/8) creates this circular, orbiting motion — which is perfect, because the whole song paints the picture of being a satellite looking down on the earth. That metaphor always hits me. So much of life is lived from ground level… but I’m constantly asking God to lift my view higher. To see beyond the moment. To live from a heavenly perspective instead of just an earthly one.
And musically? It’s a workout.
Your fretting hand doesn’t get a break. The rhythmic flow stretches your timing. Your strumming arm has to stay locked in. It wakes everything up — fingers, wrists, shoulders. It’s one of those songs that builds both feel and endurance.
If you play guitar, give it a try as a warm-up and see what it does for you.
What songs do you love to warm up with? Drop them in the comments — I’m always looking for new orbit patterns. 🚀
My new song “Hercules” is officially out on YouTube.
If you’ve ever tried to be strong for everyone… and found yourself breaking, this song is for you.
It’s about surrender, weakness, and discovering the strength only God can give.
