He planned the entire evening. Babysitter, location, all of it.

I just got a screenshot of the attire and instructions to be ready at a certain time. 🫶🏽

No itinerary. No details. No clue where we were going.

And honestly, somewhere between getting ready and ending up tucked away in a little back room at The Wine Room, I realized that’s probably not a bad description of marriage either.

You start with a plan, then life starts improvising.

Ten years later, there are entire chapters you never could’ve predicted. Some beautiful. Some hard. Some that changed you. Some that changed everything. 🙏🏽

People spend a lot of time talking about finding the right person. What I’ve learned is that the real gift is finding someone you still genuinely enjoy once life becomes less about big moments and more about everyday ones.

☝🏽 Ten years ago I probably would’ve said chemistry is what makes a relationship last.

Now I think it’s dependability, shared direction, feeling like you’re on the same team, and still liking each other when life is mostly made up of ordinary Tuesdays.

Because anybody can feel close on vacation. Anybody can feel close during date night. Anybody can feel close when everything is going their way.

The real question is whether you can still laugh together when you’re tired, reach for each other when life gets busy, and enjoy each other’s company when the day wasn’t particularly remarkable. 😮‍💨

The older I get, the less impressed I am by chemistry and the more impressed I am by consistency. By people who keep showing up, keep choosing each other, and make room for honest conversations. The kind where you can say the uncomfortable thing, ask the hard question, tell the truth, and know you’re still on the same team when the conversation is over. 🤞🏽

Ten years in, one of my favorite things about us is that life doesn’t feel like something we’re carrying separately. It feels like we’re building it together.

And somehow, after all these years, you’re still one of my favorite people to sit across from and talk to.

A little Friday morning appreciation post for the man who planned the date and somehow still makes ordinary life my favorite part. 🤍

one minute it’s hills that don’t make sense, the next it’s me on a scooter trying not to look amateur, wind in my hair, no destination…just vibes

we did everything and nothing at the same time… 🍷
wine train through Napa, little vineyards that felt like secrets, glasses clinking like we had something to celebrate (always do)

Muir Woods felt like God whispered “breathe” and I actually listened… 🌲 like…quiet in a way that makes you check back in with yourself

then boom…back to the city. cable cars, Chinatown food that made everything else I’ve eaten feel very forgettable, little Italy, Japan town, & streets full of energyyy

nighttime? different story… 😏 music, laughter, a little chaos, a little “should we be doing this?” the kind of night you don’t over explain…you just smile when you think about it

and somewhere in between all of that…I realized I love when life feels a little unpredictable. like I’m not trying to control every moment. just living it…fully…and letting that be more than enough 🤞🏾
