On a bright pink note …….

The Kuh-i-Lal mine in Tajikistan has been an important source of spinel for centuries. The famous Black Prince’s ruby (which is actually a spinel) set in the British Imperial State Crown is said to have been mined there. Recently, gemologists from China, where spinel has become an increasingly popular gem, conducted a study on the color mechanism of pink spinel.
