Did you know that alcohol exposure during pregnancy is a leading cause of preventable birth defects? It’s estimated that 2 to 9 children out of 1000 have fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS). Even more children have effects of alcohol exposure in utero that don’t meet the criteria for FAS but do fall under the umbrella fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASDs).
