This summer, we're honored that our Changemaker, @dr.sylviaearle, closes Week One of the 2026 Chautauqua summer season, "Icons and Instigators: Women Who Change the World" by delivering the Chautauqua Lecture on Friday, July 3rd, sharing one of the most extraordinary lives in exploration and conservation. Marine biologist. Explorer. Ocean advocate. "Her Deepness." First Female Chief Scientist of NOAA. National Geographic Explorer-at-Large. Rolex Testimonee. For more than six decades—most recently—through her nonprofit organization @mission_blue, Sylvia has challenged us to see the ocean not as a distant frontier, but as the living heart of our planet—and to recognize that our future is inseparable from its health. There may be no better place for this conversation than @chq1874, where generations of lifelong learners have gathered in pursuit of ideas that inspire curiosity, deepen understanding, and invite us to imagine a better future together.
