Did you know that Wall Street firms buying distressed properties aim for returns of 5% to 7%? As an individual you should set a personal goal of 10%.
You can begin to estimate that maintenance will cost you approximately 1% of the property value annually. Costs to include in any financial plan include homeowners insurance, possible homeowners' association fees, property taxes, and monthly expenses such as pest control, landscaping and others. Operating expenses on your property will be between 35% and 80% of your gross operating income.
