What are the benefits of mediation in a family dispute?

Mediators are trained to be impartial and facilitate an agreement between parties that BOTH parties benefit from and BOTH parties agree to.

Mediation in a family dispute can look like:

• A Safe Environment: You’ll have a neutral third party facilitating your discussion, which can be helpful in emotionally charged disputes

• A New Perspective: Being able to have a chance to really listen to the other party might offer a new perspective that you haven’t been able to consider

• A Way Forward: After the mediation, some families choose to request a formal “memorandum of understanding” that outlines what was discussed in the agreement.

• (Hopefully) A Mended Relationship: Oftentimes when the air is cleared, all cards are on the table, and an understanding is reached, a relationship that was rocky before can feel less treacherous.
