Myth: "I'm self-employed, so I don't really need benefits — I'll just handle it myself." 🤔
Here's what nobody tells the 1099 crowd: when you work for yourself, you are the benefits department. No group life insurance. No 401(k) match. No paid time off if you get sick or hurt. If your income stops, everything you're building stops with it.
That's not meant to scare anyone — it's just the math of one income with no safety net behind it. The good news: you can build your own. Life insurance with living benefits, your own retirement plan, a real emergency cushion. It just has to be on purpose, not by accident.
So a real question for you: if your income stopped tomorrow for 3 months, how long could your household hold steady? Drop a number in the comments — I'm curious where most people really stand. 👇
Myth: "I'm young and healthy — I'll get life insurance later."
Reality: "Later" is when it costs more, or when a new diagnosis makes you uninsurable. The healthiest, cheapest version of you is the one reading this right now.
1099 folks and single parents with no group plan to fall back on — locking in coverage while you qualify can be one of the smartest moves you make.
