I don't just take pictures of birds. Here is another passion of mine, fencing! Most of the time I end up Trying to stop the action, like in the first photo. Fencers move so fast that this is often difficult. So I tried to switch it up and incorporate that movement into the shot in the second photo, though it is harder than it looks!

In memory of my adviser, Elaina Tuttle, who recently passed away. This is a white-throated sparrow that she spent much of her life researching, and became the worlds foremost expert on the species. I truly wouldn't be where I am today without her, and I know many others that will say the same.

Which do you like better as a background? Splashing waves or the colors of a sunset? This brown pelican from Costa Rica looks good with both!

Purple martins can often be found around many bodies of water in their 'apartment style' houses when they are breeding. They are the largest member of the swallow family and eat lots and lots of insects!
