Thanks in part to the advocacy efforts of IURA's Government Affairs Committee, the Bloomington City Council approved the Hopewell project—helping pave the way for nearly 100 new affordable homes in the City of Bloomington.

A new chapter for Bloomington begins: Hopewell’s first homes are officially on their way. After unanimous support from both the Plan Commission and City Council, Mayor Thomson has signed off on the neighborhood’s first plans.

That means nearly 100 new homes are coming soon, designed for a wider range of residents and stages of life and expanding attainable homeownership opportunities in our city.

This progress reflects years of teamwork and vision from city staff, community members, and local leaders—all of whom we thank for helping make this vision a reality. Look for the first homes as early as 2027!
