The Ranch Cat Rescue

The Ranch... Turkey Vulture Rescue? Naaaaah, we're gonna stick to cats but it was fun to help this fella yesterday! I saw them struggling down my driveway with what appeared to be an injured wing and scooped them up. Like ya do. Huge thanks to the Indiana Raptor Center for picking our friend up and getting them the care they need!

Fun things I learned - Turkey Vultures are like 95% wings, 3% legs and like 2% body. It weighed about as much as one of my large chickens, very light for such a big critter! No wonder they can so easily glide on air currents. They have big talons but that beak is like a 4" ice pick, grateful for my protective eye wear for sure!
