They did not all grow up rooting for the bad guys in the movies. Trying to appeal to the better angels of our nature.

Last night’s Pride at Citi Field was full of love (and chest hair :) Even after a loss, the fireworks had the stadium smiling.

The are the only team rainbowing their logo for the whole month. They have pride cups, flags, fried egg roll rainbow cookies and pride tank tops last night for everyone—not just people who bought a special ticket (only one of 3 teams to do so).

Before you share your negative feelings about your team celebrating Pride month, I beg of you to think about this: 18% of LGBTQ youth have attempted su***de, a rate 2 times higher than teenaged general population. While there are numerous causes that drive someone to die by su****de, one of them is often acceptance. Acceptance from the people and things they love. So I ask you: If the actions of the team that you bleed for actually help save the life of just one fan who is going through it, isn’t it worth it? Isn’t it worth a fun night and the Mets logo being rainbow flavored for the month?

Also, how much hate do you need in your heart to object to fried eggroll rainbow cookies and fireworks?
