My Granny would have celebrated her 100th birthday on July 1, 2025.

Birthdays for me were always extra special because I was surrounded by so many others… My Cousin Lisa’s on June 30th, My Granny’s on July 1st, My Cousin Daniel’s on July 2nd, My Birthday on July 3rd, and America’s on July 4th!!

But the best for me was “almost” sharing the day with My Granny.

It’s hard to believe it’s been 13 years since she went to Heaven. It is rare for a day to go by without thinking about her, and I feel her presence in every circle of my life, especially in our home with Haley, Lula Mae, Judah James, & Royal Grant. It’s difficult to put it into words, but her life and legacy lives on in all her kids, grandkids, and great grandchildren that she loved so much.

From the way she taught us to clean, the way she taught us to love, to raise kids, and especially the way she taught us to COOK… she lives on forever in our hearts and our day to day lives. I’m learning to remind myself, daily, that everything I say and do is leaving a lasting impact on my kids and many others, that will live on after I’m gone… I’m trying to leave only the good stuff.
