The UAB Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) is deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Dr. Brian Andrew Van Tine, a distinguished alumnus of our program. Dr. Van Tine served as an oncologist and Associate Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics at Washington University in St. Louis. He was also the Sarcoma Program Director and Co-Director of both the Phase 2 and Adolescent & Young Adult Programs at the Alvin J. Siteman Cancer Center.
Dr. Van Tine passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2025. His career was marked by extraordinary compassion, innovation, and a relentless commitment to advancing cancer research. He leaves behind a legacy that continues to inspire the physician-scientist community and all who had the privilege of working with him.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues, and loved ones.
Funeral and memorial service details will be shared by his family and Washington University in the coming days.
