Next group:
Understanding vulnerability after brain injury and why substance abuse risks rise.
The brains reward circuits are highly sensitive after a traumatic brain injury, potentially causing individuals to become more vulnerable to substance use and abuse. Neurochemical disruptions can and typically do cause behavioral changes to be accelerated in many forms including use and abuse of legal and illegal drugs and alcohol.
Awareness and understanding are critical, post-injury, for abuse prevention.
Monday November 17th at 6 pm we will be touching on this subject. There will be resources available, education, awareness and discussion.
