SUNDAY STORMS: SMALL HAIL POSSIBLE

High resolution models are insistent on thunderstorms forming across Northern Massachusetts in the early afternoon and continuing through early evening.

Temperatures in the mid layers of the atmosphere... way above our heads... are a little colder than usual, so small hail is possible in any thunderstorm.

Not EVERYONE will get a thunderstorm, and even fewer will see hail...but this does figure to be an active time across Eastern Massachusetts this afternoon...so plan any outdoor activities with an indoor fallback plan this afternoon.

Activity should fade with the setting sun this evening

Watching a line of storms and some of them are producing strong winds…again…out by Worcester.

Storms will progress east, but should begin to weaken as they get closer to the coast. Again, not impossible for a cell or two to make it to the coast with a wind gust to 40mph and some lightning. Many of us will see a shower, perhaps briefly heavy.

Best chance of any strong winds and thunder remains southwest of Boston with this approaching cell

SUNDAY SHOWERS/STORMS: MID-LATE AFTERNOON ARRIVAL EXPECTED

Yeah, we're not done with the weekend rain just yet. Another disturbance will drop south just like yesterdays system, albeit this one is much weaker.

The result will be fairly widespread showers, with a couple of thunderstorms possible. The expected arrival time is between 3-5PM.

Showers will not be continuous...so outdoor activities can survive the day with some patience.

Fairly large outage affecting Lynn, Swampscott and Marblehead...estimated to be affecting close to 10,000 customers...and restoration time estimated to be 1pm. Crews are busy so don't be pi**ed off if it takes longer.

Winds have gusted to 50-55mph this morning...and while that may not seem extraordinarily high....the fully leafed trees act like a sail and catch that wind. Consequently, we have more tree damage with these wind speeds in Spring/Summer when compared to similar events during the winter.
