I just had an article published in Wonderbash — a conference for magicians — and the idea at the center of it is one I think applies well beyond magic. 
 
Nobody talks about the seat. 
 
Ask someone who’s flown first class what they remember and they won’t describe the legroom. They’ll tell you how they felt. The warm towel. The way they were addressed. They paid five times more and received nothing physical that they couldn’t have gotten cheaper. What they bought was a feeling — and that feeling became a story they still tell. 
 
That’s the business most of us are actually in. We just haven’t been thinking about it that way.
