After a lot of drama surrounding the decision, Lane Kiffin has announced that he is leaving Ole Miss to take the head coaching position at LSU. Kiffin is bailing on the No. 7 ranked Rebels (11-1), and will not coach them in the College Football Playoff for a chance to win a National Championship.

Since taking over in 2019, Kiffin has sparked a massive turnaround for the Rebels football program. His record stands at 55-19, making him the third-winningest head coach in school history.

Instead of staying to build a legacy, Kiffin chose a better payday - signing a reported 7-year, $84 million contract. Now, Kiffin is off to collect and his Ole Miss players are left high and dry at the most crucial moment of a historic season with a National Title hanging in the balance.

Although Kiffin was adamant about staying to see the season through at Ole Miss, Athletic Director Keith Carter would not allow it after Kiffin accepted the LSU job - a terrible handling of things on both sides.

College football was already dead before this, but Kiffin jumping ship to LSU before the season was over is just another big nail in the coffin.
