Mumsnet, a parenting website in the UK, and the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) have become the first known potential victims of Heartbleed bug. Both have confirmed that personal data and passwords of several hundreds of users have been hacked using the Heartbleed vulnerability. Mumsnet, after detecting the vulnerability, patched it up at an urgent basis. CRA, which lost data of about 900 users in the six-hour-long breach, is still analyzing the issue. Security experts have warned of similar attacks in future as well.

Beware! A new phishing scam is on prowl. Here, you receive an email with the subject “Documents” that leads to a webpage which appears more like a Google Drive sign-in page where you are instructed to provide personal information. Google has warned PC users not to enter any personal information as it is a scam. All those PC users who have already provided account information are expected to reset the password to avoid any untoward incident.

Now you can send encrypted messages over Android-devices. TextSecure, the messaging service from Open WhisperSystems, launched its Android-version on Monday. The messaging service with advanced security technology enables encryption by default, however, can send messages only between TextSecure users. TextSecure will soon launch an iOS app and a Web browser add-on.
