Micah For Berwyn
Go Vote!!!
Today is election day and we have both state and local election items on the ballot. Your vote will help decide who becomes the next senator, commissioner, or committeeman. It will also decide whether Berwyn institutes term limits.
I have said this many times, but I seriously mean it, your vote matters. Local elections are often decided by a handful of votes. This is your chance to shape Berwyn’s future.
So even more important than WHO you vote for is making sure you vote at all.
So go vote!!!

Hey Berwyn! Early voting is underway and Election Day is right around the corner. If you haven’t voted yet, this weekend is a great time to get it done. I’m supporting my friend Rob Pabon for Democratic Committeeman and wanted to share one of his posts below.
You can early vote at the Berwyn Recreation Center (6501 W. 31st St.)
• Monday–Saturday: 9:00am–5:00pm
• Sunday: 10:00am–4:00pm
Election Day is on St. Patrick's Day, Tuesday, March 17th!
Take a minute to check out Rob’s post below and make a plan to vote!
I’m proud to support my friend and colleague, Rob Pabon for Democratic Committeeperson.
I’ve worked alongside Rob and I’ve seen how he approaches public service. He shows up. He listens. He takes residents seriously, even when the conversations are tough. He believes regular people should have a real voice in how decisions get made. This race for Committeeperson matters more than people might think because it helps shape the direction of our local Democratic Party. It decides who gets support, how organizing happens, and whether neighbors feel invited in or shut out.
Rob is stepping up to make sure Berwyn's Democratic party reflects the values and of our city. If you care about the future of our local politics, then please make sure you vote on March 17th!

It’s great to see Rob stepping into the race for Democratic Committeeperson here in Berwyn. For folks who may not know, the committeeperson helps lead the local Democratic Party by helping connect people to civic life, supporting candidates, encouraging voter participation, and shaping how the party shows up in Berwyn.
Over the past year, I’ve had the chance to get to know Rob through the campaign process and through our work as aldermen. He’s been talking about running for this position for a while now, and it’s clear he’s thought deeply about what this role could look like. He’s passionate, thoughtful, and organizing is what he does, not just as an elected official, but as his day job. His approach has always been rooted in building trust and bringing more people into the process, and I'm excited to see how he hopes to accomplish that in this new chapter!

Important Update! Thank you all for being part of this page during the campaign. It meant a lot to have your support, encouragement, and engagement along the way. Yesterday, I was officially sworn in as Alderman of Berwyn’s First Ward. With that, the campaign chapter comes to a close, and the work of serving officially begins!
To keep things organized, I’ve created a new page where I’ll share updates, information, and news related to my official role. Please follow that page to stay informed and to reach out with anything related to city business!
Here's a direct link: Berwyn First Ward Updates - Alderman Micah Caldwell
Additionally, this campaign page isn’t going anywhere. I’ll continue using it for political advocacy, sharing information about local issues and other campaigns, and any future runs of my own (though I think we could all use a little breather from campaign season). Thanks again for being here and I hope you’ll follow both pages and stay connected!

We did it! I’m going to be the next Alderman of Berwyn’s First Ward!
Man, that final stretch of the campaign was a whirlwind and a wild race to the finish, but it paid off. Election night was amazing. I got to celebrate with friends, family, and supporters who stood by me every step of the way. Being surrounded by that much love and hope as the results came in is something I’ll never forget.
After that high, I took a much-needed breather. That included, very intentionally, stepping away from social media for a bit. I’ve been spending time with my family, catching up on sleep, getting back to things I love like gardening, and finally tackling all the tasks that piled up during the campaign (yes, including taxes).
I had dinner with some friends the other night, and one of them casually said, “This is the most rested I’ve seen you in months!” That really stuck with me. Campaigning is intense. It takes a toll. But now that I’ve had some time to relax and reflect, I just want to say thank you. This victory is a shared one, and I’m deeply grateful to everyone who believed in this campaign and what it stood for. Your support means everything.
But the campaign wasn’t the end! It's just the beginning. I’ll be officially sworn in on May 13th, and I’ve already begun the onboarding process. I can’t tell you how excited I am for what’s next, and I’m looking forward to everything ahead. So let's get to work, people! Onward and upward!

City Council is about to silence residents. We can't let that happen.
A proposed ordinance in Berwyn would move public comment to the END of City Council meetings. If this passes, you won’t be allowed to speak on agenda items before decisions are made. You’ll only get to talk AFTER it’s too late to change anything. In other words, you'd have no voice.
But it gets worse.
The ordinance also:
- Limits the entire public comment period to just 15 minutes total
- Bans reading statements on behalf of others who couldn’t attend
- Gives the mayor sweeping power to cut off speakers, remove them from meetings, or even fine them $100 if he feels they're “disruptive”
- Removes the right for public comments to be read aloud during emergencies (like during a pandemic)
These changes don't improve "meeting efficiency". They shut people out. They make it harder for residents to participate, harder for working parents and seniors to be heard, and easier for city officials to ignore us. A government that moves public comment to the end of the meeting isn’t trying to be efficient, it’s trying to avoid accountability.
Show up and speak out while we still can! The City Council meeting is on Tuesday, April 8 at 8:00 PM at Berwyn City Hall. The Open Forum is still at the start of the meeting (for now). Defend our right to be heard.

It's Election Day! Go Vote!!
Local elections are where your voice matters most. Your vote helps decide how we grow, how we care for one another, and what kind of community we want to be. This is your chance to shape Berwyn’s future.
As for me, I’m just feeling incredibly thankful today. I’ve been surrounded by the most generous, thoughtful, and hardworking group of friends, volunteers, and supporters. You’ve made this campaign something I’ll never forget. Every conversation, every hour spent in the freezing cold, every word of encouragement has meant the world to me.
No matter what happens today, I’m proud to be part of this community, and I can’t wait to keep working with you for a brighter, safer, and more connected Berwyn!
Okay, let's do this!!

I'm still buzzing from yesterday!! Congressman Chuy García came out to kick off our canvassing event for this final weekend before Election Day!
It means so much to have his support. His presence shows he’s serious about strengthening local politics and believes in this movement for change right here in Berwyn.
But even more importantly, I feel so excited about everyone who came out to support me and knock on doors. We probably had 50+ people! It was an incredibly successful day filled with great conversaations, tons of energy, and a whole lot of heart. Let's carry this momentum all the way to the finish line.
I can't wait for Election Day! Let's do this!
