Looking forward to 2020 being the best year yet at Behavior Reimagined. As we've grown, we've been able to develop exciting new positions for every level of employee we have at the company. The vision for this year is to continue to design individualized job positions and descriptions for our staff in order to maximize everyone's skills and talents while allowing them areas to learn and grow. We are digging deep to design more tools and processes to support all positions and ensuring that these are in line with our collaborative, empathic, accountable, team driven model. Stay tuned for updates on our creative solutions to common problems and the honest posts about failed attempts. We learn and grow through trial and error and finding the learning opportunities in success and failure are equally important. I can't wait to see what this year brings! -Jennifer

I love the number of connections I have in the field of ABA. Recently I've had several opportunities to talk to people about leadership, career growth, company expansions and job negotiations. In having these types of discussions, not only do I get to give advice and know that it is appreciated, but I also get to engage in a dialogue that helps me frame my role within my company and my community.

If I advise someone to ask a set of questions about a particular job opportunity, I reflect on how well I could answer that question if I were the one interviewing them. Does my company have that role? Does it need it? Is it well defined? Do the expectations outlined within the job description actually fully encompass the role the employee has signed up for and is doing? If that person were to leave, do we have a plan for how to fill that gap?

If I asked pointed questions about diversity in leadership and creating opportunities for adding more voices to the community, I also reflect on how my hiring practices and my advocacy efforts are in alignment with the solutions I propose to others for solving these challenges. These are conversations where listening is just as, if not more important than speaking. Learning to reflect on what others are saying before formulating a response is one of the greatest skills I have worked on developing over the past 20 years. It isn't always easy, but it's really worth the effort.
