REMINDER: Free talk on the conservation of the Critically Endangered Masked Finfoot. Tuesday 16 January, 2024 at 7PM Pacific Time. Please contact us ([email protected] or via Messenger) for your zoom link.
The call will include a short presentation by Sayam U. Chowdhury, who will be the lead scientist on the project. We also have an American birder, Nathan Goldberg on hand to talk about his search for the Masked Finfoot in 2022. The presentation will be followed by a conversation with Yong Ding Li who serves as the Regional Flyway Coordinator for Birdlife International (Asia).
Bird Conservation Fund is putting together a $9,500 grant that will support a team of conservationists in their effort to study and protect the small remaining population of Masked Finfoots in Bangladesh. As of January 9, we have raised $7,540 toward our target $9,500 for this project.

Please join BCF's year-end campaign to protect the critically-endangered Masked Finfoot.
We have run successful campaigns in 2023 to fund important field work to protect the Sociable Lapwing and to search for the elusive Makira Moorhen. Now we are turning attention to an important project that will support field biologists’ efforts to save the Masked Finfoot from extinction. We need your help.
BCF is raising $9,500 that will support eight months of field surveys and research into the remain population of Masked Finfoot in the Sundarbans region of Bangladesh. The project will locate nesting sites, document the Finfoot’s breeding ecology, and address hunting threats. It is believed that only a few hundred birds remain globally with about half in Bangladesh. The findings of this vital work will hopefully lead to the creation of a Masked Finfoot task-force under the East Asian-Australasian Flyway Partnership (EAAFP).
As with all Bird Conservation Fund projects, 100% of your donation goes to the designated grant recipient. Please consider a year-end gift via https://birdfund.networkforgood.com or contact us directly at [email protected]
