Why? Because they don't address the ROOT of the problem. ๐ŸŒฑ

They teach skills like delegation and time management, which are helpful in the short term.

-----

But if you want SUSTAINABLE results, you have to change the BELIEFS that are causing the problems in the first place.

Failure to delegate is often rooted in a BELIEF that the executive needs to control everything.

Poor time management can be rooted in a BELIEF that everything requires a hyper-urgent, immediate response.

-----

Unless you address these BELIEFS, the executive leader will keep making the same mistakes.

BELIEFS drive behaviors.

And you can't simply pave over your BELIEFS with new skills.

-----

That's why I help my clients understand their beliefs, where they learned them, and how to change them.

I do it using the A-B-C Method from cognitive behavioral therapy.

A = The Activating Event
B = The Belief (your perception of that event)
C = The Consequence (the resulting emotion and behavioral reaction)

The "B" in this model is often below your conscious awareness, thus driving your behavior without you even knowing it.

-----

I help my clients see the programming, and help them install new beliefs that help them make better decisions.

"Michael is an amazing therapist. With compassion and understanding, Michael works with men to find the confidence in themselves to live an authentic fulfilling life. Michael's sports psychology training and his own experience of being an athlete, allow him the unique insight to help facilitate healthy changes in athletes, entrepreneurs and high achievers. I highly recommend Michael if you are looking for a therapist that will help you develop the skills and space to achieve your goals."
-Dr. David Shepard

"Michael is a very knowledgeable and multi-talented therapist. I know him best through his work with men. Michael champions men unlearning many of the masculinity myths that so many of us grew up on, and helping men find more authentic and vulnerable ways of being. In addition to his clinical work, Michael also supports men's work more broadly through the creation of Men's Therapy Directory, which provides a space for men to find therapists who specialize in men's individual and group work. He also produces wise yet down-to-earth videos on different psychological topics that I've found quite illuminating, many of which I have shared with my clients. I highly recommend reaching out to Michael if you're ready to dive in!"
-Troy Piwowarski, Psy.D.
