Hail the hive-mind-- home help needed--
Some of you may be familiar with the paintings of Kevin Kihn. He has been a regular at the Greyhaven tea table for many years. He and his family (mother and disabled sister) are currently in a desperate search for an apartment, preferably in the Bay area, but they would be willing to go almost anywhere they can afford. The runes suggest looking at public programs/ information/resources and/or calling on our community knowledge base and connections.
See Kevin’s description of their resources and needs below. They have been living in a motel, which is quickly eating up what money they’ve saved. Help!
"Dianne, Kevin and Cynthia are looking for a home in the greater Bay Area. Dianne is a retired school teacher, Cynthia is handicapped and receives disability and Kevin is an artist currently authoring a book on perspective. We have a modest but reliable Social Security income. We can pay $2000 per month. We need at least 2 bedrooms, 1 1/2 baths. Ground floor or a good elevator are desirable due to mobility issues. We can be reached at [email protected] or by phone at 949-993-7477 . "

In honor of Indigenous Peoples Day, tonight’s dinner at Greyhaven is indigenous soup.
This is not a Native American recipe, but except for a substitution of chicken for California quail, and onions instead of local alliums, the other contents are all vegetables originally domesticated by indigenous North and SouthAmerican tribes: corn, beans, tomatoes, a little greeen chile, squash, and potatoes. Thank you for so greatly enriching the diet of the people of this world.
Writing from lands once inhabited by the Chechenyi band of the Ohlone tribe.
