Hetch Hetchy was the original public land grab in America, even though nobody talks about it. But it can be restored. It’s time to finally free Hetch Hetchy from the O’Shaughnessy Dam and allow the Tuolumne River at Yosemite National Park to flow free again. Like it did for thousands of years before colonization. The Klamath dam removal project has showed the world dam removal works. And river restoration saves the environment fast, because water is life. Damming up the entire valley at Hetch Hetchy is a crime against Mother Nature. And the 1st example of a blatant public land grab. Something that we are seeing today with public lands all over America. San Francisco claims to allow access to all of Hetch Hetchy as they are required to be law. But they only have a few trails and one road. They are violating federal law everyday. This is our public land we have a right to access it. And a habitat that John Muir said was as beautiful as the famous Yosemite valley. California doesn’t need more dams to steal even more water that wildlife and native plants depend on to survive. You’re Invited to our Spring Gathering: An Annual Tradition!

Hetch Hetchy in the spring has become an annual tradition hosted for Restore Hetch Hetchy (RHH). The occasion offers a moment to come together as we hike, converse and dine.

Here are the details:

• The time and place: To begin the day…
Meet @ 10:30 am at the center of O’Shaughnessy Dam.

Join Restore Hetch Hetchy board and staff on a hike to Wapama Falls - a 2.5 mile hike each way. Or, you may wish to venture on other trails of your choosing. Be prepared for weather changes as it is still between seasons. Come prepared with good shoes, rain slicker, snacks and water.

Reception and Dinner @ 5:30 pm at Evergreen Lodge

Enjoy a delicious meal as you hear updates on activities and plans at RHH. A suggested donation for the evening reception and dinner is $50pp.
